Terese and Chris

Terese and Chris have welcomed a new child into their home and are no longer available to be matched with. Other families are still waiting though, and you can VIEW THEM HERE. To learn about additional families or to speak with an adoption specialist, please call Adoption Advocates at (512) 477-1122.

We met in 2006 in Dallas at a social event and immediately started dating. We had both recently moved to Dallas at the time. We were married in Austin in 2008 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. In 2017, we moved from Dallas to Austin to be close to Terese’s family.

We were blessed in 2014 to have our son Levi and have loved every aspect of being parents. We hope to give Levi a sibling (or two) through adoption and are committed to creating a loving, caring and nurturing home. We are strong believers in open adoption, since we think that is what is best for everyone, and will welcome you and your family into ours.

Terese

When I grew up I wanted to be a lawyer.

I’m really good at: Cooking and trying new recipes.

I am terrible at sewing or knitting.

My favorite quote is “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” ― Henry Ford

My best mom joke is Knock knock. Who’s there? Boo. Boo who? You don’t have to cry, I just knocked.

My most embarrassing moment as a parent has been I put headphones on Levi for the first time and he loudly starting singing “Believer” on the airplane (also one of funniest).

What Chris says about Terese

“I enjoy watching Terese as a mother. She continues to amaze me with how much love and care she has for our son. She loves her family and wants to be there for us all.

Terese and I learned early on that we can both be competitive – and that sometimes it’s better not to compete. We both like spicy food. One of our first dates, dinner at a Mexican restaurant, quickly escalated into a spicy food challenge. Fortunately, we called it off once it became apparent that even though someone could win, the victor would be miserable.”

Chris

When I grew up I wanted to be a scientist or an engineer.

I am really good at baking cookies and cakes.

I am terrible at decorating cookies and cakes.

My favorite quote is “If music be the food of love, play on.” – William Shakespeare

My most embarrassing moment as a parent has been changing the smelliest diaper at a nice restaurant and having to carry it outside because the smell was wafting from the open trash can.

What Terese says about Chris

“Chris can best be described as a mountain man. He was born and raised in Colorado and loves being outdoors, whether it’s hiking, biking, swimming, skiing or doing water sports. He is extremely smart and is described by our friend James as the ‘man who knows everything.’

He is an amazing husband. He shows his love in many ways, like by rubbing my feet, doing more than half the chores when I’m busy, and even making up silly sweet songs about me. He is also the best dad I’ve ever seen. He has always been very involved (changed many diapers!) and loves to play hide and seek.”

OTHER CHILDREN

Our son Levi is 5 years old and is full of energy! He recently learned to ski, ride a bike without training wheels, tie his shoes, roller skate and is learning to read. He also loves playing basketball with his preschool friends and hanging out with any of his 18 cousins who live in Austin. He can’t wait to be a big brother and often asks when he will get his baby.

OUR HOME

We live in a newer home in Northwest Hills, where Terese grew up. Our home is at the end of a cul-de-sac overlooking a large greenbelt area.  The schools are great, and there are flat streets (as well as hills to run and bike on), hiking trails and nearby playgrounds.

HOBBIES

We love doing anything outdoors, mainly biking, running and skiing.  We just got back from skiing in Telluride in January 2020 and our son loved his 3 days in ski school.  We skied as a family on day 4 and had lots of fun!

PARENTING PHILOSOPHY

We want our children to grow up confident, happy, compassionate and secure in our family’s love. We believe our child should make their own choices (within boundaries) and should try as many activities, sports, and in the future, career options and pursue what they love the most. We aim to be good role models and will help provide our children with as many opportunities as we can. We don’t believe in handing everything to our child – we want him/her to appreciate the value of hard work and commitment.

OUR EXTENDED FAMILY

We have a large extended family, and spend as much time as we can with them.  Every family member we have told about the adoption is excited for us and can’t wait to meet the newest addition.
