Robert and Ricardo

Robert and Ricardo have welcomed a baby into their home and are no longer available to be matched with. Other families are still waiting though, and you can VIEW THEM HERE. To learn about additional families or to speak with an adoption specialist, please call Adoption Advocates at (512) 477-1122.

We’re so excited to be on this journey to start a family through open adoption. We have deep love, laughter, and happiness in our marriage that we can’t wait to share with a child. Our family and friends are thrilled for us and have been so loving and supportive throughout this process. We have tremendous respect for you and look forward to potentially meeting and forming a lifelong bond with you.

When I grew up I wanted to be a veterinarian.

I am really good at being goofy, listening, math and sports.

I am terrible at dancing.

My favorite quote is “Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself.” – Harvey Fierstein.

I realized I was no longer cool when… my niece told me I was too old to listen to Ariana Grande.

When I grew up I wanted to be a doctor.

I am really good at motivating others, public speaking and dancing.

I am terrible at sports and Algebra.

My favorite quote is “For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.” – Rudyard Kipling

I realized I was no longer cool when I didn’t know what “on fleek” meant.

PETS

We have three small dogs, two pomeranians (Niko and Panda) and a rat terrier (Wrecker), and we love to take them on walks and to the dog park. We give them more love than I think they enjoy receiving and we couldn’t imagine our family without them. They get along great with kids and they can’t wait to meet their newest owner/friend.

OUR HOME

We live in Southwest Austin about 10 minutes from downtown. We love our neighborhood and think it’s a great area to raise a family. It’s safe, has great schools, and everything we need to get to is within 5 to 10 minutes from us, including the Barton Creek greenbelt which is our favorite hiking spot. We live in a 4 bed/2 bath, 2200 sq. ft. house with an open, spacious layout. We also have a gigantic backyard for a child to play and explore in.

OTHER CHILDREN

We don’t have any children of our own yet but we do have six nieces and nephews ranging from age 1 to 9. Of course our nieces want us to have a girl and our nephews want us to have a boy, but regardless they can’t wait to have another cousin to play with during all of our family gatherings. They have so much fun together and have become very close so we’re excited our future children will have such a close-knit group of cousins.

PARENTING PHILOSOPHY

We want our child to always feel like they are in an environment where they feel loved, supported, and comfortable in being themselves. We want to give them the tools necessary to become good decision makers and responsible adults. We’ll allow and encourage them to explore all avenues to find what they’re good at and love to do, and where they fit in best in society.

OUR EXTENDED FAMILY

Most of our extended family lives in Houston and Dallas so everyone is very close to us. Ricardo’s mom and two brothers and their families live in Houston as well as Robert’s parents and oldest sister’s family. Rob’s other sister and her family live in Dallas. We have a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins that live in Houston/Dallas as well. Family comes first for the both of us, so we love that we get to be so close to ours and get to see them often. They all love to come to Austin to visit us and experience all of the beautiful/fun things to do here.
