Who We Are
More About Jamie
When I grew up I wanted to be a park ranger.
I am really good at untying knots.
I am terrible at reading directions first.
My favorite quote is:
“Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.” –John Wayne
I realized I was no longer cool when What do you mean I’m not cool?/em>
More About Will
When I grew up I wanted to be a writer.
I am really good at making bad jokes.
I am terrible at making good jokes.
My favorite quote is:
To live is to fly. –Townes Van Zandt
I realized I was no longer cool when I’m pretty sure I’ve never been cool.

More About Our Life
Pets
We share our home with Merle the cat and Hildy the dog. Merle likes cream, sunny spots, and pets on the chin, and Hildy likes children, fetch, and big backyards.
Our Home
We live in a duplex in East Austin that was built in the 1950s. Our home has two bedrooms, a huge front porch, and a big yard with lots of trees. We decided to buy it because it’s really close to a great elementary school and three public parks. It is also in a diverse neighborhood, so our child will grow up with friends and neighbors from lots of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Parenting Philosophy
In general, our philosophy for raising children involves setting a good example, fostering open communication, and encouraging exploration. We will strive to dependably exemplify the behavior we expect to see from our child. We will establish a nurturing home in which our child is encouraged to openly share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. Our home will also be one in which wonders are investigated, questions are thoughtfully considered, and the world around us and within us is appreciated.
We will talk things through with each other, with the child, and with the other adults in our lives. We believe in explaining why and not just making rules.
How We Met
We met in high school, which is a pretty sappy start to a love story, but it’s true. Even sappier, we went to prom together. We stayed close friends through college, and somewhere along the way we fell in love. We finally started dating in 2001 and got married a year later.
What Adoption Means to Us
For us, adoption is the surest way of becoming parents, and we dearly want to be parents. We choose open adoption because we believe that every child should have the benefit of knowledge and belonging where they seek it.
