Meet Adoption Advocates’ newest team member, Alicia Ports! Alicia works with adoptive parents to complete their pre-adoption home studies as well as conducting post-placement adoption supervision. .

What inspired you to work for Adoption Advocates?
I am adopting a child of my own and have also always had a drive to work in this field after working with former foster youth and understanding their backgrounds.

What would you say is the most rewarding part of your career?
I am constantly growing and learning from my clients about the complexities of life. Being there for someone and having a part in a dream or goal of theirs is better than any paycheck I will receive.

What is the most challenging part of your career?
Not going to bed with the weight of what you heard that day. It could be the empathy you felt or experiencing the true barriers to life.

What can clients expect when they interact with you?
Honesty and compassion. I care about what I do and hold myself to always be transparent.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to go to parks and small hikes with my toddler. I also love to read (mainly self-help books) and diamond bead.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I would like to think I can make an old piece of furniture look new again but I watched a lot of YouTube videos to learn how :)

Do you have any pets?
I do have one big baby named Lilly. She is a lab mix who is 95 pounds and still considers herself a lap dog.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
A planner or the note app on my phone. I save EVERYTHING in there and it helps me function!
