Connection Is Key, Especially in Difficult Times
September 11, 2017
Over the years, we have placed with many families in the northeast. Immediately after 9/11, we had many birth parents call to see if their child and adoptive family were alright – even ones that didn’t live in that area! This is the reason we do open adoption. No one should have to worry about the basic well-being of someone else in the triad when it’s so easy to ascertain this info. Birth families do not stop thinking about the children they placed.
If your birth mom has not been in contact, please know that child is still in her thoughts. We all felt so vulnerable during the weeks after 9/11 and needed connection. Connection is key for us as humans. Reach out. Tell people you love them. If you have lost contact with a triad member, call your agency. It’s never too late to try to connect.
