Teresa and Nick, a white family looking to adopt a baby in San Antonio

Ready to Adopt

Teresa & Nick

Hi there! We’re Teresa and Nick. Thank you for taking time to learn about our family and our story. We’ve been together for 17 years and live in San Antonio. We have a 4.5-year-old daughter named Adela who can’t wait to have a sibling. We love to spend time with family, go on adventures and learn more about the world around us. We are excited to welcome a new child into our lives, and promise you that they will be loved, know where they came from and be encouraged to find out exactly who they want to be.

Things We Can’t Wait to Do as a Family

Ride bikes and make crafts | Read Calvin and Hobbes | Eat pepperoni rolls and pizza | Travel to New Orleans for Mardi Gras | Celebrate Christmas and Halloween | Cheer on the San Antonio Spurs | Sing Baby Beluga | Watch Harry Potter | Make scrambled eggs | Learn to skateboard together

Our Daughter

Adela is our 4.5-year-old biological daughter. She’s a ball of joy and energy and always smiling. She loves to dance, sing as loudly as possible and put on performances for the whole family. She’s also independent and knows what she likes and doesn’t like. We encourage her to experience and ask questions about the world around her, and to be kind to others.

Our Home

We bought our first home in 2023 and are slowly making it our own. The neighborhood is quiet, full of deer and very close to a big park and the elementary school. The street doesn’t get much traffic, so it’s very safe for Adela to ride her scooter and bike around. Our immediate neighbors are mostly senior citizens who love Adela. We also live close to family, which means our children will play with their cousins, aunt, uncle and grandparents on a weekly basis.

Adventures

We like to travel to destinations near and far. We want to learn about people and cultures different from our own and remind ourselves of the bigger communities we’re part of. We like to explore all the towns of the Texas Hill Country and visit family in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Arizona and Italy. And of course, who doesn’t love a great Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Parenting Philosophy

We put unconditional love and joy at the center of our parenting. We play as a way to learn about ourselves and the world around us. We take time to be silly together and also accept when our child is sad or mad, encouraging them to reflect and learn to develop emotionally. We encourage critical thinking and for our children to be open minded, adventurous and kind. We value education – in and out of the classroom. We motivate our children to explore their likes, dislikes, where they came from and who they want to be.

What Adoption Means to Us

Adoption is a way to fully open our hearts and lives to another child and complete our family of four. When we started our family five years ago, we thought of adoption as a possible path for welcoming a child into our lives. After experiencing fertility issues, we started to explore what adoption – and open adoption in particular – would mean for us, our family, our future child and their birth parents. We are grateful for adoption because it gives us a chance to unconditionally love and raise a second child. We get the opportunity to guide them through life, learn to see the world again through their eyes and encourage them to develop emotionally, physically and intellectually.

5 Things About

Teresa

I’m Italian-American and try to make my grandmothers proud by cooking greens and beans, pepperoni rolls, biscotti and pizzelles at Christmas.

I speak Spanish (always improving) and love learning about Latin American culture and customs. I spent two Peruvian winters in Lima studying in the National Library (and of course hiking in Machu Picchu).

Dance has always been part of my life and is something I continue to this day. Most recently, I was part of the biggest samba school in the U.S. and am now learning Folklorico.

My friends are a huge part of my life. I’ve known my “inner circle” for 20+ years.

I volunteer at Adela’s school as the “art teacher.” It feeds my desire to craft, create and spend more time with my daughter.

Nick

I have worked for 3 Olympic Games, 2 Youth Olympic Games, and the 2015 Pan American Games.

I’m a big Texas Longhorn fan, was part of a spirit group called the Longhorn Hellraisers when I went to UT, and painted my chest at football games. I was the “E” in Texas for a whole season.

My hobby right now is researching the history of Texas music.

I will drink iced coffee no matter how cold it is outside.

My happy place is visiting a big city on vacation and just walking around… with an iced coffee.

My favorite animal is a rainbow unicorn.

I love to do gymnastics, go to playgrounds and make up dances.

I love playing with my cousins – all 10 of them.

I help mom and dad in the garden.

I am getting very good at swimming and like to take a dip in the pool at my Nana and Spoolie’s house.
