Hi there! We are Kaleb and Erica, and we’re grateful that you’re taking a few moments to learn about us. We’ve been married for 5 years and our highest goal is to love each other and those around us unconditionally. Adoption has been on our hearts for a few years, but as we’ve gone through struggles with infertility, it seemed meant to be that we would welcome our first child through adoption.
We can’t imagine the emotions you are experiencing as you process your decision. Our prayer for you is that you feel peace in every step. Should you choose us, we will make sure that your child knows how loved they are by you. If you choose to, we would be honored to remain in communication with you and send you messages and updates as a part of our extended family.
Things We Can’t Wait to Do as a Family
Play Monopoly Deal as a family | Eat lots of popcorn on movie night! | Travel to Austria with Kaleb’s family | Visit the water park that’s down the street from our house! | Celebrate Christmas and put up our Christmas village together | Teach him or her how to rock climb | Cheer on the Chicago Cubs! | Sing any Disney song together! There’s almost always music playing in our house. | Watch Star Wars! | Go on walks in our neighborhood with our dog!
Our Pet
We have a small dog, named Oliver! Oliver is a 5 year old shih-tzu poodle mix. He is very friendly, playful, and no matter what he is always down to cuddle! He loves spending time with kids and playing with them.
OUR HOME
We live in the Chicago suburbs in a 3 bedroom, 2 and a half bathroom home. We enjoy a neighborhood that is near forest preserves, an activity center, and a water park. We also live about 15 minutes from Erica’s parents who are excited to be available to help out with their future grandchild!
Our Hobbies
It’s possible that we have too many hobbies… because we enjoy living life to the fullest and using hobbies as an opportunity to spend time with the people we love! We love to travel, rock climb, hike, ski, crossfit, and play music together! We also prioritize travel to learn about a variety of cultures. Finally, we are very involved in our church and it provides a safe, welcoming community that loves God.
Parenting Philosophy
We believe that parenting should flow out of love, acceptance, and an ultimate desire to build connection with our child. We will lead with empathy, and also do our best to adapt to the unique wiring of our child. Of course, we will include structure and consequences with the goal of raising someone who will grow into a wise, confident adult. But, at the end of each day we come back to the ultimate goal of connecting with our child, expressed through unconditional love.
What Adoption Means to Us
Adoption truly is a gift and a miracle. In our faith we believe that we have been adopted by God because He loves us! We feel blessed to even have the opportunity to adopt and share the love that we have to give. We also look forward to the potential relationship and openness with the birth family, if that is what they desire!
