What inspired you to work for Adoption Advocates?
I am studying my master’s degree in social work and have focused my career so far on foster care and adoption, and would like to continue to do so as I move forward. This is a field and a population that I have a lot of passion about and I am looking forward to being a part of the good and ethical work that AAI is doing.
What would you say is the most rewarding part of your career?
I feel like I am best living into my passion and gifts when I am able to be a bridge for people to whatever it is that they need. I am passionate about meeting people right where they are. This is where I thrive best doing my job.
What is the most challenging part of your career?
For me, it is challenging to see something in the world that is unjust or incorrect, and not be able to fix it immediately. The challenging part is the most important part – real change and difference is made in the small, intentional interactions and jobs that we do with people. Social work takes persistence and diligence as we work with people and to make changes in the structure of systems that often fail them.
What can clients expect when they interact with you?
Clients can expect for me to be warm and to be a good listener. I enjoy interacting with people and I listen well to what they have to say.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I like to run, I read, and I play music. And I go to the ocean any chance I can get!
What is your favorite quote?
“Make your choice, adventurous Stranger, Strike the bell and bide the danger, or wonder, till it drives you mad, What would have followed if you had.” – C.S. Lewis – The Magician’s Nephew
Do you have any hidden talents?
I can wiggle my ears. I can speak Spanish, which surprises everyone because I do not look like I would. I lived in Mexico for 3.5 years at a children’s home and school.
Do you have any pets?
I have a black cat with big mustard yellow eyes. His name is Amigo.
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
My coffee and my tacos
