Welcome to our page! Thank you for your courage, your thoughtfulness, and your generosity in considering us as prospective parents. We hope this page will give you a sense of our lives and our family. Our hope would be for us to become a part of each other’s stories by sharing milestones and everyday joys as we all grow and learn together.
OUR HOME
We moved into our home in Central Austin in 2017 and have been nesting ever since. We’re lucky to have an open space for family gatherings, a fenced-in backyard, and an upstairs bedroom with a “treehouse” feel that would make a lovely nursery. Our street is full of young kids, and there’s a public pool a short walk away.
PARENTING PHILOSOPHY
We’re looking forward to all the day-to-day things families share: toting an infant through the grocery store, rummaging in the dirt of our garden with a toddler, and hearing about school at the dinner table.
OUR EXTENDED FAMILY
Drew’s side of the family is far-flung but tight-knit. With family in San Francisco, Brooklyn, and L.A., we’ve gotten used to planning visits for birthdays, baptisms, and any other excuse for a gathering. Zac’s side of the family has deep and continuing roots in Central Texas. Zac’s mom is a child-development specialist, and Zac’s dad is a retired music professor. They live near Zac’s sister, brother-in-law, and nephew just south of Austin.
HOW WE MET
We had an international fix-up! A mutual friend then living in the Philippines decided to set us up from across the Pacific. As it turned out, her timing was perfect: Drew was about to move to Washington, D.C., where Zac lived at the time. When Zac moved home to Texas, Drew came along.
OUR TRAVELS
We love to travel! Together, we’ve visited Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mexico, and many corners of the United States. We believe learning about other cultures and languages is important and that the best way to do that is visiting as many different places as possible. We hope to take our child to some of our favorite places and to continue discovering new ones together.
