We’re a happy, loving, fun couple that has been married 11 years. We have a 2 year old daughter Natalie and a 4 year old dog named Dizzy. We’ve always wanted a big family and have lots of love and affection to give. We are supported by wonderful families and church friends. We love taking walks, traveling, eating good food and enjoying life to the fullest. Thanks for taking a look at our profile.
Beth
When I grew up I wanted to be a librarian.
I am really good at listening and baking – not necessarily simultaneously.
I am terrible at cardinal directions (North, South, East, West).
My best mom joke is: What do you call a dog that can do magic? A labracadabrador
My most embarrassing moment as a parent has been one of the multiple times my daughter has decided to disrobe in public.
I realized I was no longer cool when I started telling my family and friends they needed to eat more vegetables.
Jon
When I grew up I wanted to be an actor.
I am really good at having fun while dancing.
I am terrible at dancing.
My best dad joke: 5/4 people admit they’re bad at fractions
My most embarrassing moment as a parent has been dealing with a very dirty diaper while on a plane when the seatbelt sign was on.
I realized I was no longer cool when… wait. I’m no longer cool?.
OTHER CHILDREN
We have one daughter, Natalie, who we welcomed into our family through adoption 2 years ago at 3 weeks old. She is the love of our life. She is fun-loving, adventurous and affectionate. She loves her baby dolls and will be a wonderful big sister.
PETS
We have a yellow lab named Dizzy, age 4. She’s a super sweet dog and very tolerant of Natalie – who tries to ride her and dress her up whenever she gets the chance.
OUR HOME
We live in mid-century ranch in a safe neighborhood in central Austin, a few blocks from a big park with a community pool, playground, duck pond and tennis courts. We entertain family and close friends a lot and make great use of our screened-in porch.
PARENTING PHILOSOPHY
We believe it’s our job to create a strong framework for Natalie (with rules about manners, respect for others and a sense for right/wrong), but allowing tremendous freedom within that framework. We believe kids thrive with clear boundaries and routine, but at the same time we value independence and problem-solving (as maturity dictates) as a way to build resilience and self-confidence. However, above all, we strive to make sure Natalie (and future children) has no doubt in her mind that she is unconditionally loved, so we never withhold affection or attention from her. Both of our extended families are big “huggers.”
WHAT ADOPTION MEANS TO US
Adoption means everything to us, because it’s the way we’ve been able to expand our family beyond the two of us. It’s a decision that is made out of love for the child by the birth parent, and a decision that has made our dreams come true. We value the opportunity to have a good relationship with the birth parent(s).
