Meet the Team: Cinthia Cortez

Meet Adoption Advocates’ bilingual adoption specialist, Cinthia Cortez! Cinthia provides adoption counseling and support to pregnant women across Texas in both Spanish and English.

What do you do in your role?
I provide case management and counseling to English/Spanish speaking expectant parents to help prepare them for adoption related issues, i.e. grief, exploration of unresolved personal issues which may affect adoption decisions, options available other than adoption, life planning, parenting, etc. I also work with the adoptive parents that are matched and complete necessary documents to complete the adoption process. I will be working on completing home studies for potential adoptive parents as well.

What inspired you to work for Adoption Advocates?
AAI is a small non-profit program who’s dedicated to helping the people they serve which aligns with my values and purpose as a social worker. They also show immense support in my goals to further my education by attending graduate school as well.

What would you say is the most rewarding part of your career?
I get satisfaction from seeing other’s experience growth, happiness, relief and when they share their appreciation for my part in helping them.

What is the most challenging part of your career?
I would say balancing work, and family life. I try to be so thorough when working with people, that I lose track of time.

What can clients expect when they interact with you?
With my empathic ways, I provide a kind, welcoming and non judgmental environment and support.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Cooking, and trying new recipes for my family and friends.

Do you have any hidden talents?
When I have the time, I make unique home/holiday decor by recycling other items.

Do you have any pets?
We have a family dog my daughter named Tracker after a Paw Patrol character.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
Air conditioning. I’m just kidding! My little family.
