Andrew & Kyle

Hello, we are Andrew, Kyle, and pups Rosco and Red. Thanks for taking the time to get to know us goofballs!

We understand that you’re currently making an incredibly important decision, and we want you to know that we have deep respect for you and your process of making that decision. We hope that by getting to know us, you’ll feel confident that our loving, goofy home can provide a place filled with fun, adventure, and endless care.

Since the earliest days of our relationship, we’ve been excited to adopt. Andrew’s uncle and Kyle’s grandfather and aunt are adopted so we’ve seen first-hand how enriching adoptions can be for families. We can’t wait to shower a child with all the love in the world and would be honored to build a beautiful family together. Thank you so much for choosing to read about us. We would love to get to know you more!

Our Home

Our home is in South Austin, enveloped in big oak trees and tall bamboo forests that surround us in nature 24/7. Built in 1932, it has tons of charm, personality, and lots of original features. We’re not sure who enjoys the space more – us or our dogs! We often play fetch with them in the backyard or take long walks exploring the neighborhood, including the schools, parks, and pools all within walking distance. We’re also lucky to have friendly, fun neighbors on our street with lots of young kids to play with. It’s easy to lose track of time just appreciating our space and community.

Our Pups

We have two dogs, Red and Rosco, that can’t wait to have a new family member to snuggle with!

Rosco is a play-obsessed dog who loves to perform tricks. He’s a bit shy at first, but once he warms up to you he won’t leave your side. He’s great with kids and loves playing fetch with our nephew, Theo.

Red is a snuggle-obsessed dog that never met a ball or bone he didn’t like. When he’s not playing, he’s almost certainly sleeping (usually under the covers!) or looking for pets (he’ll happily provide gentle licks in return).

Our Extended Family

Even though we live in different parts of the country, our families share a love for exploring new things, spending quality time together, and enjoying lots of food! Everyone is so excited to welcome a new baby to the family and are very supportive of us adopting.

We’re lucky to live very close to Andrew’s sister’s family. Babysitting our nephew Theo is always a blast, like going to mini-golf or the Thinkery children’s museum. Andrew’s Mom and brother live in Houston, where Andrew grew up. Being half Japanese, Andrew and his siblings bond over dipping their toes in Japanese culture (anime, food, decorations). Andrew’s dad, step-mom, and half-siblings live in Boston and New York.

Kyle’s family lives in Florida, which we try to spend about 4 weeks a year visiting. Each time we pack up the dogs and drive to Florida, living the beach lifestyle for a few weeks and spending quality time with his parents, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Our Traditions

Maintaining traditions is very important to us and our friends and families. We make sure to celebrate every birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas together! We create and strengthen bonds over cooking and sharing meals together. Whether we’re hosting one friend or a houseful of family, the dining room is where we frequently catch up on each other’s lives and take a moment to appreciate what we have.

For Andrew, growing up in a mixed race family (half white, half Japanese) in Houston fostered a love for exploring different cultures. Whether it’s enjoying Ethiopian injera, making dumplings from scratch, celebrating at the Houston Japan Festival, or making tamales for Christmas, we believe that bringing other cultures’ influence in every celebration makes them more fun!

What Adoption Means to Us

We will share your child’s birth story with them because we understand the importance of understanding identity and heritage. We want them to know who they come from. We want you to be as much a part of this child’s life as you’d like to be. We’re open and happy to share as many pictures and stories as you like and hope for shared meetings and experiences. Above all, we will love your child with everything we have and to make them our top priority, from birth until forever.
